Woodgraining

Natural wood tones are a beautiful design element in any room. However, sometimes not every element in the room is the same type of wood – or may not even be wood at all. Woodgraining is a type of finish that can be painted on nearly any surface to make it appear like natural wood.

This process was popular in the 19th century as a way for people to imitate more expensive wood finishes by painting over soft, inexpensive wood.

Today, this process can be used to match the original (non-wood) material to existing wood surfaces, or to match different wood grains within the same area to achieve a continuous, cohesive wood grain and finish. You’ll have to look closely to determine which is the original, wood finish and which has been woodgrained by Steffes Studio.
